Dear all, I think that most "insiders" are already aware of this but Michael Phipps confirmed at the weekend that he is coming to BeGeistert 014 in Düsseldorf on 2nd and 3rd April. We in the orga-team are very much looking forward to seeing him as are many of the hard-working Haiku developers and BeGeistert regulars. Charlie *** First of all sincere apologies for the delay in this announcement. There are no real excuses apart from the usual one that organising BeGeistert has to tkae place next to everything else in real life. For those intending to come - we have reserved a number of beds at the Youth Hostel so it is still possible to book a bed despite the fact that the official deadline has passed. If you are intending to stay then please register as soon as possible so that we make the necessary arrangements. For every BeGeistert we've had a motto. While they are largely tongue-in-cheek they've usually had some relation to the event itself. At BeGeistert 013, "(Un)Lucky Numbers", we learned that life was provided to imitate fiction to keep up the tradition. But despite accidents and illness BeGeistert 013 was a great success. The tradition is continuing with BeGeistert 014, "Dinner for One". Named after an obscure English variety piece which is very much a part of New Year festivities throughout Europe, we are very much hoping that BeGeistert 014 really will be "same procedure as last year". Veterans know only too well what we mean by this: the usual mix of organised chaos, inspiration and fun! While BeGeistert is about computers it is also about meeting new people and having a good time. The chaos will start on Friday afternoon as usual with the BeGeistert orga-team frantically trying to prepare for the weekend while visitors arrive and join in the, ahem, fun! (What's wrong with sightseeing?) and will continue until Sunday evening with people loathe to break off discussions to catch their train... The weekend will have the usual mix of presentations and discussions around Zeta, Haiku OS and BeOS. Visitors will be gently wakened by the Beatles and occasionally reminded when and how to eat! yellowTAB is coming to BeGeistert and will be presenting the long awaited Zeta R1. Marcus Overhagen will be presenting his DVB-T solution for Zeta and Haiku OS. YellowBites's Stephan Aßmus will showcasing the latest version of WonderBrush and the Haiku OS app server. Teammaui will also be there in force to meet their "must have" application suite including a presentation of yab. We are also very much looking forward to welcoming a special guest: Bruno Albuquerque, aka BGA, is coming all the way from Brazil to join us. As always while the focus of BeGeistert is definitely technical, it is not exclusively so. This means taking time to enjoy Düsseldorf and the Rhine with the usual trip to the Altstadt on Saturday evening. See you there! BeGeistert-Orga Team http://www.begeistert.org
