When I installed Haiku on my Aspire one I did it this way.

1. Downloaded parted magic and installed it on a USB stick
http://wiki.partedmagic.com/index.php/Downloads
2. made those partition I wanted, I have 3, 2 for Haiku and one for data
3. Using my tool from www.modeen.se it will download and "install" haiku
on a stick but you need to have Windows
4. "Formated" the partition I wanted to use with Haiku Partition tool
5. Installed running Installer in Terminal.
