I'm a first time GSoC student, and I was looking for a bit of GSoC
advice. My semester ends on May 30, I suspect I'll have a lot of free
time in June and July. I have some summer classes at college, but I've
been told they're just C++ classes for us first-year students.

I was looking for someone to discuss my GSoC ideas with, but before
that I have a question: is it required that I work on improving an
existing project or is starting from scratch acceptable? (I want to
work on a desktop app, and I was eyeing the WebKit browser, but I also
had an idea for an app I wanted to write.)
