For scanners, that doesn't really apply, since those can be userland
only drivers - so the standard kernel driver infrastructure is not used
at all.
Also, for video cameras, there already is a standard interface provided
by the Media Kit.
Right now, I am not aware of any huge missing item, but of course, I am
wrong there 8-)
