For the GCC 2.95.3 it probably doesn't make much of a difference as it is 
(AFAIK -- correct me, if I'm wrong) not longer maintained by any vendor. I 
would prefer putting the original sources into a vendor branch anyway, and 
apply the BeOS specific patches to the main trunk. You never know what it 
will be good for at some point in the future.
