An email address is required in your account.
(Even though the create new account page says that an email address is
optional. It isn't accurate.)
So, log in. make sure an email address is provided.
Request an account verification email.

As Rene mentioned, more than likely it will be filtered as spam.
Lastly, you may need to be logged in *before* you use the verification token.
