I tried unetbootin but that didn't work, well unetbootin starts but doesn't Maybe I was doing something wrong? As source I was pointing to an Anyboot-Image and this was configured in unetbootin as a "floppy". That said the experience with the USB-stick was different on a PC than with a notebook. On a notebook I got a display with a potential list of things to start but only DEFAULT listed.
FWIW Using dd works absolutely fine with a PC-BSD image. Should I try with an ISO instead of the Anyboot?
