This reminded me of a question that's been lingering on my mind for a
while, is there a way of changing the default wallpapers or adding
wallpapers within the source code?
I was messing around with the source for a while a week ago and I wasn't
able to find a way of changing the default wallpaper from HAIKU - blue and
white (official), or being able to add a wallpaper to the non-branded
version (compatible, and default)

Just today, in an old box, I found an original BeOS 4.5 installation
floppy. If you want a photo of it for a "nostalgic" wallpaper, I could send
That unfortunately falls into logo / trademark.
(things are kind of strict there since we would be "shipping a product"
with another companies logo)
If PalmSource didn't like it, they could send a takedown notice for R1
Beta 1. (which is lame, but not worth the risk)
