Thanks for pulling the list together. I had researched and gotten to

For now I am confined to the r1alpha4 of the git branch. Since you have
obviously run through builds multiple times perhaps you can answer a
question for me.

When I build I get a bootable Haiku disk but there are no development tools
in that built environment. I'm trying to figure out how they built the
alpha 4.1 image I started with. How did they get the build to include all
of the tools necessary to build itself?

Almost all "building" questions can be answered by perusing these pages:

https://www.haiku-os.org/guides/building

for example:

https://www.haiku-os.org/guides/building/jam

which also links to:
http://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/build/jam/DefaultBuildProfiles

if you read this information and take the time to comprehend it,
you'll find that building a nightly image would get you all the build
tools:

jam -q @nightly-raw

If you want a release image similar to what we distribute on the "Get
haiku" page, it's:

jam -q @release-raw

Most of the setup for getting the sources and installing prerequisites
should be on those pages for various host platforms. You have to dig
into the links, there's a LOT of information there.
