We do have the funds for this, but I am wondering how much we
should spend on media kit/media player work when there seem to be
other areas of the system that desperately need to be improved so we
can get Haiku into Beta sooner.
As various times said I'm all for putting a few of time into the package
infrastructure, but it
will make things easy for me if someone put some ticket or task. If someone
in confidence can
"mentor" me for a few days I think we could get the best result.
Most of the required work on the package management is setting up the
infrastructure on our servers for the packages repositories (with different
branches for beta and nightlies). It is not development work. Unfortunately,
our system administration team is even smaller than the developer team, and
with the package management system requirements this is really what's holding
the beta release.
I don't know if injecting money there is possible, as the sysadmins may simply
have no time available and hiring more sysadmins is a bit sensitive (we don't
want to give access to the servers to random people).
