Those are the bezier points defining the path. If you have a path with 4 points, it originally starts with index-1 and ends with index-4: 1-2- 3-4 If you add another point, it'll be added and linked to the last index 4. Now rotating it, the path becomes 4-1-2-3 or 2-3-4-1 if you rotate forwards or backwards. You can see how it's changing by watching a non- closed path.
