I found the VirtualBox guide quite good, though someone needs to update
the docs to prefer AHCI mode over IDE mode for the virtual hard drive
controller (my writeup about that is at http://www.haiku-os.org/node/4997 ).
Oddly enough, I need to do some serial port debugging today (possible
BDirectWindow bugs affecting VNCServer) and after reading your message
discovered that section on virtual serial port debugging - good timing!
