Hence the proposal to release beta1 as gcc2h + x86_64, and maybe switch
to gcc5 as the main compiler in R2. This way, gcc5 can be used in core,
but in the *next* release, which avoids delaying beta1 further to cram
In my opinion, gcc2h should stay the officially supported ISO, gcc5h
and x86_64 should be released as is (issues should not block a
release) and stamped as they are: experimental. We have managed bug
reports for some time now with this target for R1 in sight, meaning
that anything not gcc2h was out of scope: now I don't see anyone
coming soon enough to fix bugs for x86_64.
I'd like to see a release too (beta1 or anything else); as I
understand the packaging infrastructure isn't really scaled and
tested, one architecture might already be a challenge.
Let's not burden ourselves too much, we can always reassess the
situation before R1.
