For 2) we should also first implement the subpixel-positioning for our
font rendering (i.e. precise positioning even when not using
subpixel-rendering). It could make quite a difference. I'm still
interested in doing this, although have little time lately and so I
don't know yet when I get to it, could be some more weeks... (so if
anyone else wants to do it and has more time currently, go ahead!)
