After playing around with Gerrit... I have concerns that it is making
contributing to the project more difficult vs less.
(especially if we are going to require code review on *every* commit.
I'm strongly against that and am not giving my +1 to Gerrit due to it.)

The learning curve to commit to Haiku is already "not github simple",
why go even further down that rabbit hole? We need more contributors,
not fewer.

The point of code review is to improve code quality; it's not about lowering the bar.
I don't think we are equipped to make code review a requirement, though, even though I think it would benefit the project.

Using git instead of trac would still improve things, as we could automatically let patches be tried out, and just have to press "commit" -- IOW it will be as easy as github for us, not for the contributors.

If we want to make contributing as easy as possible, github would be a better choice.
In any case, I don't think that's our most important problem that needs fixing :-)
If you go to the trouble of creating a patch, it's rather trivial to get it published either way IMO.

Bye,
   Axel.
