There is makebootabletiny.c under linux to make a partition bootable, too. So you shouldn't have to do it by hand, usually. Just compile the small c program and run it. Anyway, BIOS looking for a partition table is wrong. You should report it to the motherboard manufacturer :) -- Adrien.
