[haiku-development] Using the Haiku layout manager in app not part of Haiku

In Ryan's article he warns at the end "should only be used inside
Haiku core code, such as the included applications or preference
applets." Does this still apply? Should using this be avoided for
such things as the WebKit port, AbiWord Port, updates to Pe, and other
such things? I'm asking because this may affect how some of the GSoC
projects may be tackled.
