@waddlesplash; thank you for the pointer on that.  I managed to get Haiku to 
build under Docker [1] off a mounted volume instead.  If anybody is having the 
same problem, this may be of some help.

Yes, it was a bug in Clang that I reported here [1] and will be fixed in
the next version.
