Actually, changes *will* be saved. Unless you run from a DVD which is read only.

However, I've also debated transferring changes made during the live session 
to disk during
installation - I tend to make several changes even during this short time 
that I have to repeat...
making them transfer to the installed system could be quite convenient.

That is how it works already. Even if you run from a DVD or other write onyl 
media. The data is
copied from the running RAM disk.
