No longer hiding the desktop + /boot/var implemented in r35040. I've
created enhancement ticket #5245 to cover the suggested Trash-related
enhancements with the proposed changes + some related caveats.
Suggestions/comments welcome. If someone else wants to take up that
ticket, they're welcome to, I'm going to be short on time to work on
it for a while as I'll shortly be relocating and might be offline for
a bit.
