Would be nice to let the user determine how often it checks, whether once a
day, once a week, etc. How does the user set this schedule? Perhaps a
settings window in SoftwareUpdater? Now we also have a place to put our
“Show details” option checkbox. I would prefer to keep the main window as
clean from clutter as possible. Or do we have a menu bar, where one menu
could be “Options”, and under that selections for choosing your preferences
for show more/less details and a choice of pre-canned checking schedules?
Having those settings in a menu "Settings" could work.
I never understood the extremely anal approach to scheduling updates
(for a desktop OS at least). I'd be happy with a menu item "Check for
updates >" with checkmarkable submenus (see "Slide delay" settings in
ShowImage) for "Daily", "Weekly", "Monthly", "Manually".
The updating process should be so smart to re-try periodically, if the
internet connection was broken before.
I also think we should link to the SoftwareUpdater in HaikuDepot's
Tools menu with a "Check for updates..." as are the Repositories prefs
already.

made 10 searches a day, we could have a fulltime developer.
