FWIW I agree this sort of thing would be useful. I think it would be
fairly easy to make some sort of HVIF animation system which could be
used in Deskbar and Tracker. We could then resurrect the icon download
progress bar that BeOS had with WebPositive, as well as have Mac OS X
style badges, etc. I would enjoy working on this but alas time is
limited at the moment and like many I've got a long list of Haiku
bugs, ideas and projects to work on.
