But it's not so much its slowness as the fact that it will lock the cursor
for many seconds at a time, so that I can't even get at the close gadget
to get out of the lockup!  Does that not happen to other folks?
(It doesn't happen in BeZilla, though, even though that in general is
much more snaillish than W+, so yes there must be something in the latter
that's not being friendly about letting other threads in.)
