Hi Axel,

Hi there,

as many of you are probably aware, we're missing a place where to coordinate/manage/administer the Haiku project. Neither the "haiku" nor the "haiku-development" lists are really suited for such things. Moreover, many of you already stated that they are specifically not interested in this part of the project.

This still kind of worked in the past, as the internal Haiku Inc. mailing list was used for this - with limited access, though, potentially cutting off interested people. We (as in Haiku Inc.) weren't particularly happy with this situation, so we decided to have the internal mailing list only for board members, and board related issues.

Therefore we're suggesting to establish a new public mailing list for things like:
* coordinate administration/management efforts.
* request financial support for things like shows/hardware/whatever
* discuss funding/budget
* general contact with Haiku Inc. (we could also post our rare meeting minutes there if wanted)
* etc.

I think this is a good idea. The non-profit was setup to serve the goals of project, it is run by project contributors, and can (only) function thanks to the donations from the community. Therefore, Haiku Inc., the core contributors and the wider community that supports the project are all intrinsically connected. That being the case, I believe that both the BOD and the project could benefit from an open mailing list that provides all project contributors and supporting community members a place for communication with the BOD. Such a list could also act as a window to the way business is conducted with and by the BOD, providing more transparency and better accountability.

Matt came up with the suggestion of calling this list "haiku-
management".

"haiku-management" could be a bit misleading, as Haiku Inc. manages only a few aspects of the project. Why not just call it [haiku-inc]?

Cheers,

Jorge/aka Koki
