Are multiple versions of an application going to be allowed with the package manager? If so you have a similar problem to deal with. Deskbar could do just as good a job at providing differentiation in the presentation of available applications as could a package manager. And it could do it for all entries, regardless if they're known to to the package manager or not. What's more, category attributes would be available to other applications, menus and launchers and would be more useful to them than a collection of symlinks in ~/config/be. /Jonas.
