You mean like adding an info text view below the list? I'm not sure
the potential use of a touch interface in the future warrants that.
Also, the current layout using two lines with the additional info in a
lighter grey already provides that info quite neatly. Also, see below.
The assumption would be that "normally" the user is not interested in this
information and would request it only for certain packages. If this
assumption turns out to be wrong based on user reactions over time, then a
toggle could be added which turns on/off the additional info for all list
items at once.
That's an idea I think I have mentioned to Brian before, too. Add a
checkbox "Show details". When deactivated, show the items like:

| icon | package-name
|______| package description
With activated checkbox:
________
| icon | package-name · repo · new version
|______| package description
Or maybe "old version ► new version" even, though Haiku's extremely
long version strings makes that a bit wide... :)
