I makes sense for 3rd party applications to show the author, website and version. For Haiku provided apps, the author list may become very long over time and is redundant to AboutSystem. The version reflects the currently run version of Haiku, also the same as in AboutSystem. And the website is always haiku-os.org which the the user should know already, besides it's also in AboutSystem... So, for 3rd party apps, I'm happy to see About-alerts sporting the app's icon. For Haiku apps (besides for their Replicants) I don't see the need to reintroduce "About" menus.
