**AMAZING CHOICE***

This is a piece of Haiku that really needs a serious boost

Until Win95 runs some 3D games...

 Atenciosamente,

Assunto: [haiku-development] GSoC: Adding 3D hardware acceleration support
through Gallium3d

Hello everyone,

I was very happy to see that Haiku was accepted yet again as a Summer of
Code mentoring organization. As a GSoC project, I'd like to add 3D
hardware acceleration support to Haiku through Gallium3D.

After some investigation, I found that there is a port of gallium living
in /haiku/branches/components/gallium3D with what seems to be a working
implementation of softpipe (a references software driver) but I haven't
been able to find much more information. My question is, what is the
current status of the gallium port, and what else remains to be done in
order to add hardware acceleration?

Also, I noticed that the gallium branch has not been updated in about 3
months, is there still a developer that would be willing to mentor this
project? I'm really excited about working with both Haiku and Gallium
this summer and I hope I can earn the chance.

Thanks for your time

  Mike Lester
