I'm certainly one who can complain a lot about all the faults of
Linux. I used Linux as a work/development OS for quite a while, but
eventually moved to a MacBook Pro.

I certainly don't want Haiku to just turn into another Linux.

But we decided to add package management to Haiku, which a lot of
people thought would lead us into some sort of Linux "package hell",
and so far it seems OK. Mainly because unfortunately the modern state
of software sort of requires package management.

But fighting against having /usr is just silly, as I've vociferously
argued for in this thread.

We can't fix the sad state of shell shebang handling, and this is one
of those cases where it is probably easiest to "go with the flow".

If the simple solution of just having a /usr symlink is too messy for
the majority of people, OK, but that means someone will need to make
the changes to the runtime_loader to make this work transparently. And
the list of people who can do that easily is not long. So it seems
like the simple solution would be better for now.

If we reinvented everything, Haiku would not have any hope of release
until 2020+. It is bad enough as it is.
