Having the category tied to the application binary makes since to me.

It is less flexable having it tied to the binary, however the more
choices you put in the category sorting, the more room for error.  I
hate that things like the Gnome applications menu are normally a mess
of inconsistant icons and names.

We need to define what the acceptible categories are and lay out some
guidelines for application category attributes.

"META:Category"
  * Accessories
  * Communications
  * Development
  * Engineering
  * Games
  * Graphics
  * Multimedia
  * Productivity
  * System Tools

I think those should cover most applications without having too much
overlap (aka, terminal matches system tool more than accessory)

You seem to have mixed something up. This thread is about the shortcuts for Tracker add-ons.
