EFI to setup the graphics and doesn't support mode switching after
boot, which can be super annoying?
Also last I checked disabling the radeon hd driver did not allow i to
fail over to vesa but this has been awhile. And I was testing on 2500U
not 3400G.... but they are very similar.
Also do yourself a favor and always buy dual channel ram, even if you
aren't using the GPU it will have a positive effect. Also that CPU can
run up to 2933 so perhaps look if there is a cheap 2x4GB kit that has
faster timings.
Also the A320 board may not support your CPU out of the box and may
require a BIOS flash and is a very low end board... get a x450/x470
series board instead. For example for about the same price give or

Haiku "brute forces" it's way through a lot with CPU cycles since we don't
have a ton of hardware acceleration.
I'd be concerned with Haiku keeping up with any serious audio processing /
playback on the AMD A8. (your workloads may vary though)
Keep in mind this isn't guaranteed to work smoothly under Haiku. (just a
"should work")

Thanks for that! If we want to just use VESA mode, I assume we don’t need the
GPU side of things, is that correct?

False. You need a GPU for even VESA (without an on-chip GPU/APU, you don't
have a 'graphics card'.. the motherboard ports won't work)
