Well, it would just mean you'll have to maintain the release branch as 
well. I would imagine not everyone doing this, so that other people 
have to jump in, etc. We should also then mark revisions that should 
better not be integrated into the release branch.

It would be nice if we had some sort of automatism that takes care of 
what revisions out of the candidates are already merged to the release 
branch - else we would need to be very careful to advance it 
sequentially in order not to overlook changes.
