I Agree. It may make sense more as a fork though since Harmony is dead to Apache.

As a Oracle / Sun Java binary for Haiku seems *very* unlikely... having some kind of java environment would be useful. Given harmony is clean room, it also
helps alleviate any kind of potential legal issues.
