It appears to be mostly under an BSD style license so could probably be incorporated into the Haiku tree.

Thanks for the link! I didn't know this. Regrettably we can't use the code directly, as it seems to require GCC3; but I'll take a look at the routines, maybe there are some things which can be recycled for our purposes.
