If I understand correctly, if developers do it the right way, it doesn't matter what the folders are named, as there are variables provided by the system. It should be part of the developer documentation, which AFAIK right now is the BeBook and a link to the dev page of haiku-os.org.
Just finddir B_COMMON_ADDONS_DIRECTORY (for example): it says /boot/common/add-ons on Haiku and /boot/home/config/add-ons on other systems. :)
