Either term is used, though add-on is probably favored. It's an add-on for
the media_addon_server, like the system mixer or DVB add-on. It would
implement a physical input(/output) which applications can explore and
connect to their own nodes via the Media Kit API (BMediaRoster and
BMediaNode + related API).
