Hello list, This year the Google Summer of Code application period for orgs is in february. It is now time to prepare a great idea list for GSoC. I have created the website page at https://www.haiku-os.org/community/gsoc/2015/ideas. I started from a copy of the 2014 ideas, removing the completed ones. I also added a few new ones: - HW Accelerated 3d rendering - Device Tree support for the ARM port - Multi monitor support in app_server - RTL languages support in interface kit - WebKit2 port In its current state the page has rather short description of the ideas. This means the students have to do a lot of research on the ideas before they can write an application. I think it would be better to expand on the ideas a bit (with pointers to the relevant code, better description of the involved components, possibly link to mailing list threads), so the students can read the ideas and understand what they are about, and estimate if they are withing their skill set. Otherwise the effort to provide is too high. In principle this could be a way to keep only the most motivated students, but we are also competing with other orgs, and if they do a better job of explaining their ideas, even the good studetns will go there, rather than here. Please review the list, add ideas if you have more, improve the description of existing ideas. I will continue to work on this as well. Finally, are there ideas we should remove from the list? I don't know if they all are still relevant. -- Adrien.
