A journal block device alone wouldn't really be that valuable without
ext3 write support, but in general it's definitely possible to combine
several smaller ideas into one proposal.
You can also write several applications if you are interested in
different areas - it's up to the mentors to choose which application
they want to mentor, and how the score is distributed.
