The media kit has been a target of several developers desire to fix
over the years and we *finally* have someone working on it now and you
want to shoot them down... this seems couterproductive in the extreme.
Haiku is in git worst case is some commits have to be reverted if they
break things... this isn't subversion anymore. To be fair to your
point though a feature branch would be wise however rather than
working on master. However, it would also be more likely to never get
pulled and rot there also. Frankly it doesn't matter that much.
Again, not everyone has the same style of working with others, and to
expect that is probably not practical. And as you have said he is a
capable developer. It is probably also worth mentioning that how
development occurs on Haiku is likely wildly different than BeOS, what
Dario is doing os probably more reminicent of that except rather than
going off alone for a month and turning up witha new media kit he is
doing it in public.
Also, his more controverisal work is actually living over in it's own
git repo so how about we not go all thermonuclear. The status quo for
the media kit is that it is rotting away and desparately needs drastic
work... so let him work at least untill he has something to show and
then we can evaluate it.
People can disagree without attacking each other. I and many other
people that contribute to Haiku in various ways would appreciate this
converstation not devoving into a mess. So, lets end it here please.
Just wait and see where he goes with the work he's doing. Now, be off
with you all and write excellent code instead of hurtful flamewars :D
