Hm, I'm a bit torn on that one; personally, I don't miss those popups at all. I think it's usually overdone in other systems with a lot of superfluous information passed via those sometimes annoying buggers.
It's up to the applications, software that uses InfoPopper should not bother the user too much. And remember that InfoPopper is disabled by default and it can be configured to block some notification messages.
I think there are definitely useful situations for it. And I'd rather have a standard that ships with the base distro than some apps rolling their own.

True enough, though I don't think we should include it for R1, anymore, or at least not with a public final API.

I think we should just include it and see where it goes. IIRC, none of the other additions we did are declared final (or will be declared final) for R1. :-)
