Hi there!
Pressing CTRL+CMD+ESC changes the video mode to safe mode. At
least one user reported to have hit it accidentally [1]. Seeing as
CTRL+CMD+Cursor changes workspaces and ALT+Fx does too, it's not
inconceivable to mix those two up and hitting ESC by mistake, which
also hangs around in the top row of keys.
I propose adding a SHIFT to the safe-mode key-combo.
It won't put you to the contortions of the Vulcan Death Grip while
lowering the risk of accidental safe-moding. I know that there's
an alert popping up to keep/cancel the mode change, but in the
above mentioned case, the supposedly safe-mode resulted in a black
screen that rendered the alert invisible.
So, +SHIFT it?
Is this shortcut useful at all? I didn't even knew it existed and
even managed to get out of bad screen modes by opening a terminal and
starting Screen preferences from there. And usually what I pick is
NOT 800x600 16bpp, but the native mode of my display.
So yes, make it harder to trigger or even remove it completely.
