Back when Ingo and I did some work on PPC, we usually used the cross-
tools from an x86 box - at least with the new build system (before
using the native Linux GCC compiler worked okay to build the boot
loader), and then booted via network.
I tried to build Haiku from a PPC box back then, and while the build
process itself worked (but only with GCC4 IIRC), our bfs_shell did not
produce a working image on PPC. That particular issue might have been
fixed in the mean time, but I'm not sure that was all.
