Being pragmatic for a second, but aren't these problematic video chipsets almost a decade old? The number of potential users is bound to be < 1%, who I'm sure can survive with a corrupt boot screen which lasts all of 10 seconds at most. And if they really needed to diagnose boot problems, hitting the space bar and adjusting screen boot resolutions will help them in that scenario. Working VESA on a fully booted system is an entirely different matter, though. Cheers.
