Since it is impossible to measure the harm Jorge has done in the past (not 
only the time wasted in those "discussions" with him, but also the general 
frustration they caused other contributors, and the potential contributors 
who decided to look for another community), how can you be so sure that his 
net contribution is positive at all?

Anyway, this is contribution apples vs. misbehavior oranges. I see no point 
in weighing the two against each other. The reason for the ban is Jorge's 
unwillingness or unability to collaborate in a reasonable way in this 
project. Since this is open source and collaboration is inevitable, 
expulsion is the only solution I see. Ignoring, as Humdinger very 
adequately explains, is not working and is not going to work.

Yes, name calling is unnecessary, but "trolling" is a perfectly accurate 
description.
