No it doesn't. Dario keeps replying with small books in the forms of
emails, continue to attack people and continue conspiracies about
Haiku, Inc and we "politicians".
He is lucky I decided not to excoriate him in the way he deserves for
acting like it is some privilege working in Haiku, Inc. It is not, it
is a lot of work with people like him constantly bad mouthing us. To
be frank, the Haiku project is very lucky we not decided to just
shutter Haiku, Inc given that no one else ever seems to want to
provide any help.
I have been a member of Haiku, Inc for so long I don't even know how
long (coming close to FIFTEEN YEARS), but longer than any person
should be expected to work without thanks. Not only are there never
thanks but more likely there is just constant complaining because the
stupid donation meter was out-of-date.
I spent 4 hours last night dealing with our financial information to
work on the 2018 financial report. When that is done, will people be
glad? Probably not! They will complain about the lack of some report
from 4 years ago, which by now is completely irrelevant.
But I digress.
What I have noticed about Dario is that, in his mind, NO ONE can have
an opinion about his work unless they are a complete expert on all his
code changes. Except, hold on, no one can be such an expert because he
hides his work in branches on GitHub, discusses it among non-devs on
the forum, and then drops a massive change at the last minute. Then
when anyone holds an opinion, he rips their head off.
This is not normal. This is not healthy. It is toxic. It is not the
way to behave in a collaborative open source project.
Can we agree that a total ban of Barrett was premature and is not
warrented at this time?
He was not totally banned. If he was he would not have been able to
continue this thread non-stop as he as seemed to.
Whatever goodwill he had from me is gone. I am done wasting time on
him. I don't think any benefit he provides at all outweighs the
downsides of him being in the community.
Dario: if you ever want to succeed around other people in the future,
whether at a job, or in a community, you really, really need to work
on your people skills. That is the last advice I will give you.
Can we work on the conditions acceptable to the dev team and Barrett to
work together (e.g. mandatory Gerrit review, subscription and use of
the dev ML for discussion (moderated?), professional conduct on all
sides)?
No, not in my opinion. Dario did this to himself. I was giving him the
benefit of the doubt, but giving my opinion about his work, and within
a few emails he made me the top voter for his ban.
Now let's wait for another long reply from Dario where he bad mouths
me and talks about how stupid I am and that "politicians" like me
should not have opinions about his glorious code, even though I have
been a professional developers for over 20 years.
