This is indeed a subject worth taking another look at now. I know there have been quite a few "alpha-blockers" that have been addressed in the last months. Perhaps the developers should re-assess where the project is at WRT an alpha-release? Events like Google Summer of Code are awesome for Haiku, but I have this feeling that it will distract from an alpha release for several more months.
