i’m sure you know it well, but this Address Space Layout makes the
porting of Wine harder if not impossible:

That must be something else; the layout in BeOS made it pretty much
impossible to port Wine. We switched from that layout to something
closer to what Linux is using, and actually exactly what Windows is
using itself, see [1] -- it's the same link I had in my original reply.
So whatever is Wine's problem (I did not understand what's on that page,
has nothing to do with the basic address space layout -- it must be
something more peculiar).
