Do you all agree that a Quick Tour is a good idea that should be added
to the upcoming beta?

Yes, it's a good idea.

Do you agree that my tour is a better first shot (I'm willing to keep
working on it when there are requests for changes)?

I have only looked at your version, since it was so easy to access.

How do we go about it? Should I create a recipe at haikuports for it
(or should it be added to the Haiku tree)? Can a link on the desktop
be added to the image ("hard-wired" i.e. I don't have to muck about
with a post_install script just to create a link)?

One topic I missed is file-system layout. It doesn't have to be very deep and can link to the User-Guide, but I would just quickly say what can be seen on the Desktop, where applications go and that they sometimes come with documentation that is visible nowhere else and maybe where settings are.

I don't mind the single pages. If it is deemed important to know how much content follows and where one is, one could have a row of step numbers along the top with the current step highlighted. (step == page) Maybe show a step's topic when hovering and allow to directly click the step to jump there.

Best regards,
-Stephan
