Hi, sorry for Top-posting,
Haiku comes with its own replacement, which can be fixed. I don't know if there
are cases, where it can not redirect files to the non-packaged folders.

To open/modify and extract files from pkg archives you need
"PackageBuilder" which is an old application from BeOS.
