Have you looked at u9fs? It allows UNIX systems to serve 9P file systems.
After looking at your email I went out and found the sources and checked
them into github.

It really needs inetd though. Maybe once/if the services framework is
complete I can make a Haiku service out of it or something.
Right now I am one missing symbol away from it compiled under Haiku :)
